Terry Fox Theatre has a contract position available for a theatre rentals/front of house manager. The position requires mostly daytime hours but front of house requires evening and weekend availability. The majority of the duties of this position revolve around the booking of the theatre for community events. This includes but is not limited to booking the theatre and holding rooms, contract preparation and fee calculation, marketing events to the media and marketing the theatre to prospective clients, scheduling and recruiting volunteers, website updates and acting as front of house manager during events. Stage 43
Deadline for Submissions: September 15, 2010
Stage 43 is conducting auditions for Charley's Aunt, which runs January 13-22, 2011 at Evergreen Cultural Centre. The play is set at Oxford University in 1892. Charley Wykeman anticipates that his aunt Donna Lucia D'Alvadorez en route from Brazil will act as chaperone while he and classmate Jack Chesney profess their love for their sweethearts before their overprotective guardian takes them away to Scotland for several months. But what to do when his aunt announces she will be delayed? Persuade their rugby playing classmate Lord Fancourt Babberly to dress up and masquerade as the Aunt of course. The cast includes Charley, Jack and Lord Fancourt Babberly, all Oxford students in their mid-20s, as well as Jack's middle-aged butler, Jack's father, the sweethearts and more. Auditions will be held on Sunday, September 12 from 10AM-1PM and Wednesday, September 15, from 7-9PM in the Rehearsal Hall at Evergreen Cultural Centre. The United Nations has declared 2011 the International Year of Forests. It’s a celebration of forests and their importance in everyday life. Working with this theme, Port Moody's Public Art Program is seeking an artist, or a team of artists, to create artwork for a series of printed street banners. The Leigh Square Community Arts Village is seeking applications from artists, vendors, and artisans alike from across the Lower Mainland for our annual Winter Artisans Fair. The fair will be held during the weekend celebration for Christmas in Leigh Square, an annual event where local residents watch the Lighting of the Tree, listen to holiday carols, catch a glimpse of Santa, participate in arts and crafts activities, and storytelling. Accepted vendors will be notified within a week following the deadline. Once accepted, there is a nominal vendor fee which covers the rental of one table, two chairs, and electricity for the duration of the Fair. Place des Arts, a multi-disciplinary arts centre in Coquitlam, is seeking new artists for its Christmas Boutique, 2010. This annual event is always very successful, and each year more and more customers are choosing to buy locally crafted artwork at the boutique. For the 2010 boutique, open from November 12 to December 17, they are seeking artisans who create fine-art quality felted items, wooden boxes, glass ornaments, silver work, unique pottery, leather products, hand-made soapand other quality handcrafted items — no hand-made cards, photos, prints or assembledjewelry please. Your items do not necessarily need to be Christmas themed. All works are for sale. Artists set prices for their works, and Place des Arts retains 30%. Chanukah Menorah Design Competition and Auction

In collaboration with ArtsConnect and Leigh Square Community Arts Village, this Chanukah Menorah auction project will examine the “Celebration of Light” as practiced by those in the Jewish Faith. All works accepted will be on display at the Arts Village. Exhibition dates are November 13th, 2010- January 9th, 2011.Artists from all communities are welcome to submit artwork that interprets the meaning of Chanukah and the menorah design. Richmond Art Gallery's 5th Annual Artist Trading Card Exhibition

The Richmond Art Gallery's 5th Annual Artist Trading Card Exhibition is a display of Artist Trading Cards from local, national, and international artists. Artist Trading Cards are miniature works of original art measuring 2.5 x 3.5 inches that are made to trade. This international art movement is intended to be a non-commercial, non-hierarchical, non-judgemental avenue for artistic exchange. Artists of all ages are invited to participate, and all techniques and mediums are welcome. All entries that follow the submission guidelines will be exhibited, and all the ATCs on exhibit will be up for trade. Wearable Art Awards
Deadline for Submissions: December 10, 2010
Port Moody Arts Centre Society's 2011 Wearable Art Awards are scheduled for next February 18 - 19. With the support of our community and corporate partners, they are offering $5,000 in cash awards. The event generally attracts up to 100 entries from communities across Canada, the United States and elsewhere. The entries will be shown by models during two performances at Port Moody's Civic Centre and then will be displayed at the Port Moody Arts Centre from March 3 - April 10, 2011. The 2011 Wearable Art Awards will feature three categories - Open, Headdress, and Brassiere. Prizes will be awarded in each of these three categories, along with additional awards, as determined by the jury panel, for: Second Life, Best in Show, Student participation, use of Technology, Ethnic Expression, Material of the Year (paper), and "People's Choice". First Weekend Club is looking for an amazing intern to work in their North Shore Film Studios office. This is ideal for a student, a recent grad looking to get a start in the film industry, or someone who just loves film. You must be able to commit a minimum of 10 to 12 hours per week for at least three months. Responsibilities include market research, administrative tasks, updating website content and assisting at events. Candidates should be reliable, professional, have great phone skills, an incredible work ethic and a great sense of humour. This is an unpaid internship, but perks include free movie passes, a year-long pass to Canada Screens monthly screenings, networking and a damn fine reference letter at the end of the three month period. Wild West Can Can Dancers
The Wild West Cancan Dancers welcome new members and enquiries for bookings. We are a vibrant group of ladies who volunteer their time to dance, sew and raise spirits in the community. We offer women of all ages, fitness levels, dance abilities and body types a chance to be a part of something fun and creative. Empowerment, friendship and the joy of dance are our focus.
